project summary
The TransTec.I&I project, submitted and approved under the Northern Regional Operational Program (Norte 2020), has as its main objective to explore strategies of agglomeration, proximity and scale between the business fabric of Northern Portugal, through the development of initiatives of interaction, dissemination and investment in the innovation of processes and products, with a special focus on companies in the metallurgical, metalworking and related sectors, clusters of companies in the area of production technologies and productive industries in general, thus allowing the transfer of know-how. how and technology in the areas of Metrology and Metallography.
This project will run until the first quarter of 2018 and foresees, among other activities, the holding of Open Days and Seminars on these themes, whose dates will be announced in due course.
CATIM appears, once again, as an interface entity, assuming the role of dynamizer and facilitator of knowledge transfer and valorization.

Lectures oriented to broad and current themes were promoted.
66th CIRP General Assembly 2016
CIRP, The International Academy for Production Engineering, is an organization that is a world leader in production engineering research and is at the forefront of the design, optimization, control and management of processes, machines and systems.
It has around 600 academic and industrial members from 50 industrialized countries, including Portugal, which is represented by 7 members, including 2 CATIM members.
The 66th conference, which counted with more than 500 participants, it was organized by the University of Minho and by CATIM.
OpenDay Porto 2017
This event aimed to disseminate scientific and technological information to the business environment, specifically in the area of metallography.
This OpenDay was attended by several companies in the region, linked to metal construction, production of equipment and tools and laser technology.
The aim is thus to achieve a proactive stance regarding support for industrial processes, with this Technological Center being yet another catalyst for the business R&D+i process and for updating the practices of the national business fabric, facilitating the response to the needs and challenges of the market and of society.
We believe that accessing the right knowledge/technology at the right time and in the right way is a highly differentiating process that enhances the creation of added value for companies and other entities that access or influence it.
Moldplás Seminar/Portuguese International Fair
On February 23, 2018, CATIM held an OpenDay dedicated to the theme "Industrial Computed Tomography", at its premises in Braga, within the scope of the TransTec project. R&I
This session's main objective is to promote moments of interaction, dissemination and support to the innovation process, through contact with new technologies and different players, allowing the transfer of know-how and technology in the Metrology area.
